AMR device and PDC unit

Automatic meter reading (AMR) devices continuously and automatically record the reading of different types of digital/analog meters measuring the consumption of resources, such as water and electricity, at each individual machine. AMR devices use different kinds of sensors, including infra-red sensors, optical sensor, color sense, etc. to detect the change in the readings of different digital/analog meters. Basically, one AMR device is responsible for one meter, while it is usually that more than one meter, for measuring the consumption of different resources, installed for one machine.
On the other hand, a production data capture (PDC) unit installed at each machine, will connect to all the AMR devices which capturing the readings of the meters on the machine. The PDC unit is a panel which is responsible to capture the production related data, such as the start and end time of the production process, the operators name, the production order ID, etc. PDC unit equipped with a radio frequency identification (RFID) reader that allows operators present the RFID tags related to the production order before and after work-in-progress (WIP) processed by the machine. A PDC unit contains a keypad for human data input of some production data like the volume of the WIP before and after processed by the machine. The PDC also acts as a controller to consolidate the meter reading data captured by the connected AMR devices. All the production and meter reading data are passed to the data capture middle through wireless sensor network
