Pilot Run at Dyeing Mill

The pilot for WIP management was carried out in the production facility of a Hong Kong fabric manufacturer in the Peopleˇ¦s Republic of China (PRC). The pilot was set up and run in a small-scale textile mill, in which raw fabric was processed with different production procedures like dyeing, heat setting, finishing, etc. Each roll of fabric to be processed in the dyeing mill was tagged with an RFID tag. The RFID antennas and an RFID reader, which were installed at the dock door of the mill, tracked and traced the in-and-out of the fabric. An RFID kiosk was installed beside each dyeing or finishing machine in the mill. Users presented the RFID tags of the fabric to the kiosk before and after the fabric was processed by the machine, to capture real-time production data.
