Work-in-progress (WIP) Management Application

The system can be used to track and monitor the real-time status of the WIP at each production point in a dyeing mill.

Key functions and features
Provide real-time and accurate data for:
  • Production-line monitoring and control
  • Fabric location tracking
  • Production planning
  • Customer¡¦s queries
  • Calculating KPI to enforce process improvement
Provide accurate and systematic approach to verify:
  • Production workflow
  • Accurate amount of fabric of each batch

System ¡V four modules
  • Tag management
  • Administration
  • Worker
  • Reporting

The tag management module provides the user interface to operators to associate the tag with the fabric before transporting the fabric to the production line, as well as the interface to disassociate the tags after the production is completed.

The admin module allows staff to define the workflow of each batch, which can be validated during production processes. Also, it can handle cases of split batches when a defect is found during production.
At each production point, there is a check point running the worker sub-module of the system for workers to read the tag attached to the fabric to "check-in" before processing the WIP, while, after completion of the process, the tag is read to "check-out". Hence, the actual processing time of batches at each production point is captured and the status of the WIP is monitored.

The reporting module mainly generates different reports for management to enable them to monitor production. The management can make different decisions based on this monitoring data.
